The teaser trailer for “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” was released last month, leaving Star Wars fans around the world excitedly and anxiously awaiting the movie’s theater debut on December 18th. Star Wars fan Robert Lammle was among the many viewers who gawked and cheered while watching the trailer for the first, second and even third time.
Though the teaser trailer is under two minutes, it showcases everything fans like Robert Lammle loved about the original Star Wars trilogy. The three prequels that were released between 1999 and 2005 didn’t go over so well with fans, but from the new trailer it seems director J.J. Abrams and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan are turning those bad feelings around. Abrams was chosen to direct the new Stars Wars movie after he successfully rebooted the Star Trek franchise.

The trailer for Abram’s Star Wars film opens with a quiet scene of a cruiser gliding through the desert as we see some battle wreckage. Included in the debris is a large downed star destroyer. Then we hear a voiceover from Luke Skywalker, played again by Mark Hamill, who says a familiar line from the preceding film in the series, “Return of the Jedi”.

Over a black screen, Skywalker says, “The Force is strong in my family.” Then, as we see an image of Darth Vader’s burnt helmet, followed by a scene with Artoo-Detoo, he says, “My father has it. I have it. My sister has it.” The trailer shoots to another scene, where Skywalker is passing a Jedi lightsaber to someone and adding, “You have it too.”

Following Skywalker’s words, the trailer throws fans into the action. We see new hero Poe Dameron scream in bliss while flying an X-wing fighter, and a mysterious villain appear in a mask and cloak while carrying a red lightsaber. Then we see explosions, Stormtroopers, Imperial TIE fighters, heroine Rey helping Finn after a crash, and a chase with the Millennium Falcon.

The trailer gallantly ends with Han Solo and a Chewbacca holding a crossbow as they step inside the Falcon. Han Solo says with a grin, “Chewie, we’re home.”
