Popular Utah Events

From the Sundance Film Festival, to the Tulip Festival, to the Utah Arts Festival, Utah is home to many exciting events that draw crowds from across the country and the world. Check out these great Utah events from Utah resident Robert Lammle.

 

  • Sundance Film Festival – Since 1985, the Sundance Film Festival has helped hundreds of films gain critical recognition, receive commercial distribution and reach worldwide audience. The festival has become America’s largest independent cinema festival and one of the world’s best film festivals. The event showcases the new work of American and international independent filmmakers, and features a program of dramatic and documentary films, shorts, New Frontier films, installations, performances, panel discussion and dynamic music events. The event is held in mid-late January.

 

  • Utah Arts Festival – Founded in 1977, the Utah Arts Festival is a 4-day event that features over 140 visual artists, over 100 performing art groups and more than 18 culinary artists. It draws 80,000 patrons every June to Library and Washington Squares in Salt Lake City. The event is the largest outdoor multi-disciplinary arts event in Utah, and has earned many local, national and international awards. It features a wide range of art, including mixed media, ceramics, photography, digital art, jewelry, painting, and sculpture.

 

  • Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival – The Tulip Festival is held every April at Thanksgiving Point Garden and showcases over a quarter of a million tulips and over 100 varieties. Every year features a new spectacular display, as well as music, vendors, children’s activities, food and garden tours.

 

  • Snowbird’s Oktoberfest – With Snowbird’s Oktoberfest, you don’t need to go all the way to Germany enjoy traditional German beer, music and cuisine. This event was voted one of America’s Best Oktoberfests by Men’s Journal Magazine and attracts over 60,000 visitors every year. It has been running for over 30 years and has become one of the largest festivals in Utah.
